A flat or failing battery is the single biggest cause of UK breakdowns. Drova tests battery health, alternator output and any hidden current drain before recommending a battery — so you don't pay for a new one when the alternator or a stuck relay is the real fault.
Most UK car batteries last 4-6 years. Cold winters, short journeys and stop-start systems all shorten that. Modern cars need the correct battery type (Standard, EFB or AGM) and many need a programmer to register the new battery to the BMS — Drova carries both.
We hold the most common Standard, EFB and AGM sizes on the van, so a confirmed battery fault becomes a same-visit replacement across Lincoln, Horncastle, Louth, Boston, Sleaford, Woodhall Spa and Skegness.
Battery test £29 · Supply & fit from £89. Standard £89 · Large standard £119 · EFB (stop-start) £159 · AGM (stop-start) £199 · Specialist from £294. All include test, fit, registration and the old battery taken away.
Dash lights dim, slow lazy cranking that gets slower with each turn, or no crank at all but the radio and lights still work. A resting voltage under 12.4V is suspect, under 12.0V is dead. We test cranking amps as well — that's what actually starts the car.
Symptoms overlap, which is why guessing is expensive. Battery: lights dim, lazy crank. Starter: single heavy clunk, no crank. Alternator: car starts but battery keeps draining or the battery light is on. Drova tests all three on site in about 20 minutes.
Either the battery is failing and can't hold charge, the alternator isn't replenishing it on your daily drive, or something on the car is staying awake when it's locked (a stuck relay, aftermarket dashcam, faulty module). All three are findable with the right meter.
Yes — Drova carries common Standard, EFB and AGM sizes on the van and the registration tool for stop-start cars. Most battery jobs are diagnosed and fitted on the same visit.
Either the battery wasn't the original fault, the wrong type was fitted, or it wasn't registered to the BMS on stop-start cars. We re-test the whole charging system to find what was actually wrong.
If the car has stop-start, yes — and the type is decided by the manufacturer (not your choice). Fitting a Standard battery to a stop-start car will fail in months. We check the OEM specification from your reg before quoting.
